Chianti Classico wine festival from May 29 to June 6

Also this year the Chianti Classico wine festival takes place in Tuscany. The festival begins on Saturday 29 May and ends on Sunday 6 June. This means eight days devoted to wine and culture, an ideal opportunity to get to know the Chianti Classico.

During these eight days many castles in the Chianti wine region open their doors to the public.

For those who happen to be in Tuscany during this period or who’d like to book a special trip for this event: the festival is a must and should not be missed. A must for wine lovers!

What’s on the program:

-wine tasting
-street musicians
-various exhibitions by local artists
-minibus tour through the Chianti region including  visit of some wineries
-outdoor winebars
-typical local dishes in the restaurants
-animation for children
-several courses such as how to become a sommelier in 50 minutes
-Organised walks along some wine chateaux

The “giro d’Italia” in Tuscany

From friday 14 may to sunday 16 may the “giro d’Italia 2010″ was in Tuscany.

Friday the giro arrived in Tuscany, in Marina di Carrara, famous for his white marble

Saturday the stage started from Carrara and arrived in Montalcino, the place to be for every wine lover

On sunday the giro left Tuscany

 

Especially the stage on saturday was legendary. The organisation had planned a battle along the white paths (strade bianche) of the so called “la heroica”.

The purpose was to go back in the past, when cycling was a sport for tough, brave persons struggling on the earth paths. The weather conditions however made it even worser. It was cool and it rained almost all day. The “strade bianche” were colored brown and bikes and riders were covered by mud.
